Ichika Usami is an upbeat teenager whose love of confections comes from watching her mother bake. When her mother returns from abroad, Ichika attempts to make a celebratory cake, but the attempt is interrupted by Pekorin, a dog-like fairy who tumbles into her kitchen. With Pekorin's assistance, Ichika completes the cake, only for an imp called Gummy to arrive and try to seize the cake's kirakiraru—the magical essence that allows sweets to convey happiness. Initially willing to give the cake away to shield Pekorin, Ichika learns, aided by the fairy, to recognize the cake's significance as an expression of love. As the kirakiraru within the cake amplifies, it manifests as trinkets that transform Ichika into Cure Whip, a Pretty Cure guardian. Empowered, she confronts kirakiraru-stealing invaders, protecting the treats of Ichigozaka and gathering vibrant companions throughout her journey.
