On her first day at a different school, upbeat Hana Nono hopes to grow more mature and dependable, despite an awkward initial impression. She quickly becomes friends with two classmates: Saaya Yakushiji, a calm, bookish class representative, and Homare Kagayaki, a composed, enigmatic girl. That evening a magical infant drops onto Hana’s balcony; Hana instantly bonds with the child and names her Hug-tan. A sarcastic talking hamster, Hariham Harry, appears with the baby, utters that Hana "isn't the one," then disappears with them both. The next day, after many people across the city collapse and a massive creature begins draining life energy, Hana sees Hug-tan and Harry under attack. As she intervenes to protect them, Hana and the baby emit a luminous energy and a heart-shaped gem emerges. Using that crystal, Hana transforms into a heroine called Cure Yell and repels the monster. Harry reveals that he and Hug-tan arrived from a future halted by the Criasu Corporation, the same entity responsible for creating the monster. Only Future Crystals—physical expressions of people's hopes and aspirations—and the Precure they summon offer any hope of confronting Criasu and restoring the future.
