Synopsis

A ritual known as the Holy Grail War pits seven mages and their summoned heroic spirits against one another to claim a wish-granting relic. A decade earlier, the Fourth Holy Grail War devastated Fuyuki City, leaving hundreds dead and the community scarred. Shirou Emiya, who survived that catastrophe and was shaped by his rescuer and adoptive father Kiritsugu Emiya, dreams of becoming a protector of others. Though still a student, Shirou is involuntarily pulled into the Fifth Holy Grail War after witnessing a clash between servants and unexpectedly calling forth his own servant, Saber. As a sinister shadow begins a string of murders across Fuyuki, Shirou teams up with fellow participant Rin Toosaka to halt the killings. At the same time, his relationship with his friend Sakura Matou draws him into deeper, darker layers of the conflict and the rivalries among the families behind the war.
