The Fifth Holy Grail War escalates, bringing greater peril for everyone involved. Shirou Emiya remains in the conflict, driven by his wish to be a savior who protects all. He pursues the origin of a sinister shadow responsible for a string of killings, intent on confronting and ending that threat. At the same time, Shinji Matou initiates a scheme that uses his sister, Sakura Matou, as leverage against Shirou. In response, Shirou and Rin Tohsaka confront Shinji in an effort to free Sakura from her brother's abuses. As these confrontations unfold, painful and disturbing aspects of the Matou family begin to emerge, revealing buried secrets. The film follows the continuing clashes among Masters and Servants competing for the Holy Grail, while a growing darkness over Fuyuki City threatens not only individual combatants but the very nature of their sacred conflict.
