Synopsis

A formidable and covetous sorceress named Lina Inverse wanders the world, taking valuables from bandits she encounters. After recently robbing a gang of thieves, she is ambushed in a forest by those seeking retribution. Just as Lina is poised to deal with them, a simplehearted swordsman, Gourry Gabriev, appears and mistakes her for someone needing rescue. He gallantly confronts and quickly defeats the attackers, then offers to accompany Lina to Atlas City. Reluctant at first, she accepts his company. Unbeknownst to Lina, among her latest spoils is a potent enchanted artifact. Two enigmatic men begin tracking Lina and her self-appointed protector, intent on recovering the object for unclear, likely sinister ends. Their pursuit draws the pair into an unfolding quest that may have implications far beyond their immediate survival, with the destiny of the wider world potentially implicated.
