Synopsis

On her fifteenth birthday, Kagome Higurashi is abruptly drawn through her family's shrine well into feudal Japan, a time when demons roam openly. Pursued by those who seek a powerful orb she unknowingly carries—the Shikon Jewel—Kagome faces constant danger. In the past she meets a half-demon named Inuyasha, who initially confuses her with the shrine maiden Kikyou and responds with hostility. Despite their fraught first encounters, the two are forced to cooperate. During a clash over the jewel, the gem is broken into many pieces and scattered across the land. Alarmed by the potential harm its shards could cause, Kagome and Inuyasha embark on a difficult journey to retrieve the fragments before they fall into dangerous hands.
