Five years after claiming the World Martial Arts title, Gokuu enjoys a tranquil existence with his wife and child until a stranger named Raditz arrives and upends his life. Claiming to be Gokuu's brother, Raditz discloses that Gokuu belongs to the nearly extinct Saiyan people, whose homeworld was destroyed. Sent to Earth as an infant with orders to conquer it, Gokuu instead lost his violent instincts following a childhood head injury and was raised to be gentle and protective. After Raditz fails to coerce Gokuu into joining him, he issues a warning: a formidable threat is approaching Earth that could drag the planet into an interstellar conflict. Central to the coming struggle are seven Dragon Balls—mystical orbs capable of granting any wish—and the looming war will demand extraordinary strength from those who stand against it.
