Synopsis

Ataru Moroboshi is an ordinary young man known chiefly for his rampant womanizing and remarkably poor luck. When a hostile alien armada called the Oni threatens Earth, Ataru is chosen to stand for humanity in a ritual duel. The contest turns out to be a game of tag and his opponent is Lum, the leader’s daughter, who values her pride over ruthless victory—Ataru unexpectedly claims triumph through a brazen act that upends expectations. Misunderstanding follows: Lum interprets Ataru’s promise to marry his girlfriend, Shinobu Miyake, as an offer meant for herself and finds she is amenable to the idea. Using her status as an alien princess, Lum takes up residence with Ataru. He must then navigate the fallout of his flirtatious behavior, attempt to salvage his relationship with Shinobu, and manage Lum’s presence while continuing to attract attention from other women.
