Synopsis

Extraterrestrials called the Oni arrive with an ultimatum: Earth will be spared if a randomly selected human can win a one-on-one game of tag against Lum, the Oni leader's daughter. The chosen contestant is Ataru Moroboshi, an unlucky and lustful high school student. Given ten days to seize Lum's horns, Ataru confronts the near-impossible task of catching someone with alien abilities. Driven by a promise of marriage to his childhood friend Shinobu Miyake, Ataru manages to surprise Lum; his initial grab mistakenly snatches her swimsuit top before he ultimately attains his objective. Although the contest concludes, Lum misinterprets the outcome and believes Ataru intended to propose to her, so she moves in with him. Ataru struggles to free himself from Lum's constant presence while trying to repair his relationship with Shinobu. What began as a desperate bid to save humanity becomes a personal predicament that tests Ataru's luck and endurance.
