Synopsis

Under a full moon, a young boy watches those who enslaved him die and is taken in by his rescuer, given a new name: Kenshin Himura, formerly Shinta. Raised toward the path of the sword, he carries an innate gentleness that seems at odds with the violent role he is groomed to fill. Despite his softness, his commitment to safeguarding the vulnerable is uncompromising. This story traces his early years before he adopts the identity associated with the feared Hitokiri Battousai and before he vows never to kill. As he navigates a moral divide between ideals of justice and the corrupting forces around him, his personal choices hold consequences for the broader destiny of his country.
