Synopsis

Ranma Saotome is an elite martial artist from the Saotome “Anything-Goes” school who, during training in China, suffers a curse after falling into a mysterious spring with his father. The curse causes Ranma to transform into a girl when struck by cold water and return to his male form only with hot water. Returning home, Ranma learns that his father arranged a future marriage to one of Soun Tendo’s three daughters to secure the Tendo dojo’s succession. Soun Tendo, aware of Ranma’s condition, still proceeds with the betrothal and selects his youngest daughter, Akane Tendo, a capable martial artist known for her aversion to men. The series follows Ranma and Akane through a series of often chaotic and humorous encounters: fights with various challengers, the arrival of additional romantic complications, and frequent clashes between the two as they navigate daily life under the shadow of the enforced engagement. The tone mixes physical comedy, romantic tension, and martial-arts action while avoiding major plot revelations and preserving the original’s playful, confrontational atmosphere.
