Synopsis

A celestial object yields two artifacts: the Spirit Pearl and the Demon Orb. To limit their influence, the Lord of Heaven arranges for the Spirit Pearl to take human form on Earth as Ne Zha, born to Li Jing as his third son, while the Demon Orb is to be destroyed by lightning. Due to the Dragon King’s plot to claim the Spirit Pearl for his child, Ne Zha instead returns to life bearing the Demon Orb. Unable to rid himself of the orb’s corrupting effects, Ne Zha is raised believing he is meant to fulfill the heroic role intended by the Spirit Pearl—to become a famed demon hunter. Confronted by his own unruly, mischievous tendencies and the stigma of the curse, he faces a pivotal choice: accept the dark destiny that seems prescribed or resist it in order to validate the hopeful future his parents envisioned.
