Synopsis

After the operation that led to Kafka Hibino’s confinement, the Defense Force struggles to decide how to handle him. As the first kaijuu to align with humanity, Kafka is reassigned to the Defense Force’s First Division so his abilities can strengthen their most capable unit. Some members remain skeptical of his presence, leaving Kafka under pressure to demonstrate his reliability on duty. Soon after, Kafka and the First Division respond to an assault by a vast swarm of ant-like kaijuu. With assistance from his friend Kikoru Shinomiya and the division’s captain, Gen Narumi, the mission initially proceeds under control. When Kafka cannot assume his kaijuu form, a menacing entity known as Kaijuu No. 9 intervenes with the explicit intent to kill Kafka and seize his power. Faced with a perilous confrontation, Kafka must endure his heaviest test alongside his teammates if he hopes to continue pursuing his aim of fighting beside his childhood friend and Third Division captain, Mina Ashiro.
