Synopsis

Joshiraku centers on five young rakugo performers whose daily exchanges reveal strange, humorous perspectives on life. Their discussions range from trivial daily observations to commentary on politics, manga, and other cultural topics, shifting direction as each girl adds her own viewpoint. The cast includes Marii Buratei, energetic and immature; Kigurumi Haroukitei, outwardly cute; Tetora Bouhatei, carefree and unusually fortunate; Gankyou Kuurubiyuutei, composed but prone to violent outbursts; and Kukuru Anrakutei, inclined toward pessimism and instability. Alongside a mysterious companion who wears a wrestling mask, they share their remarks with the audience while backstage at the rakugo theater and at recognizable sites across Tokyo, maintaining a tone that blends comedy and satire without settling into a single conclusion.
