Synopsis

After detaining what appears to be a film pirate at a premiere, Gintoki reviews the camera footage and is suddenly swept into a grim, post-apocalyptic Edo devastated by an epidemic known as the White Plague. The captured figure proves to be an android time device, and Gintoki realizes he has been launched five years ahead. In this future, Shinpachi and Kagura have separated from him, surviving as hardened lone vigilantes, while Gintoki himself has been absent for years, remembered only by a cryptic journal entry he left behind. Assuming the disguise provided by the time-traveling android, Gintoki gradually brings the fractured Yorozuya back together to probe the origins and spread of the White Plague. As they investigate, Gintoki uncovers connections between the present calamity and painful episodes from his own history. Facing a formidable adversary, he learns that confronting the threat will require support; with a diverse group of allies at his side, he finds he no longer needs to face the danger alone.
