Fate/strange Fake depicts a flawed recreation of the Third Holy Grail War transplanted to Snowfield by a U.S. organization that adapted data from Fuyuki's conflict. Created decades after the original war, their ceremony could not fully reproduce the ritual: the Saber class is absent and the concept of 'hero' has become ambiguous, leading to the appearance of atypical Servants. Concerned about this distorted Holy Grail War and its consequences, the Mage's Association sends Rohngall and his pupil Faldeus to assess the situation. Upon arrival, Faldeus—operating as an agent for the U.S. group—shoots Rohngall, aware that Rohngall is a puppet, and announces that their version of the Holy Grail War has been deliberately developed and is legitimate, provoking uproar at the Clock Tower as he declares his intent to reveal the project to the Association.
