Synopsis

Mirai Kuriyama survives as the final member of a lineage whose members weaponize their own blood. Her duty is to seek out and eliminate youmu, beings born from human negative emotions. While pondering alone on the school rooftop, she encounters Akihito Kanbara, a rare half-youmu living among humans. In panic she attempts to kill him with a blood-formed blade, only to discover he cannot die. Their interaction becomes an uneasy companionship: Mirai repeatedly tries to slay Akihito as she struggles to regain confidence in her role, and he, in turn, draws her into ordinary campus life by persuading her to join the school’s Literary Club. The club also includes Hiroomi and Mitsuki Nase, who are themselves capable Spirit World fighters. As relationships deepen, the local youmu grow bolder, and incidents that begin as awkward, tense episodes escalate into a desperate fight when signs point to the forthcoming emergence of an immensely powerful youmu known as Beyond the Boundary.
