Synopsis

Set three years prior to the main series, this prologue episode follows spirit officer Hiroomi Nase as he aims to capture Akihito Kanbara, a being part human and part youmu. Hiroomi's younger sister, Mitsuki, becomes involved out of curiosity and accompanies him, leading to the siblings' initial encounter with Akihito. Their meeting is complicated when they realize other parties are also pursuing Akihito, setting into motion the events that lead into Kyoukai no Kanata. The episode focuses on the characters' first interactions and the tensions that arise from conflicting interests, while maintaining the series' contemplative and somber atmosphere.
