Synopsis

After their new manga, Detective Trap, begins serialization, the creative duo Akito Takagi and Moritaka Mashiro—working under the joint pen name Muto Ashirogi—move closer to professional recognition. For Mashiro, serialization is one milestone on a longer path: he pledged to marry his childhood love, aspiring voice actress Azuki Miho, once their work reaches an anime stage, so he must keep building the manga’s popularity. Around them, a fiercely competitive circle of fellow creators both challenges and aids their progress: the unpredictable prodigy Eiji Niizuma; the refined student Yuriko Aoki and her older partner Takurou Nakai; the indolent yet talented Kazuya Hiramaru; and the abrasive illustrator Shinta Fukuda. Navigating a new, inexperienced editor, the pair strive to sustain their current series, climb to the top of Shounen Jack, and secure an anime adaptation.
