Synopsis

As a boy, Moritaka Mashiro aspired to be a comics creator, inspired by his uncle Tarou Kawaguchi, known for a successful comedy strip. After a personal loss, Moritaka abandons that path and focuses on academics with the intention of entering the corporate world. In middle school, Akito Takagi — an exceptionally bright peer who wants to write — discovers Moritaka's intricately rendered sketches. Recognizing his artistic skill, Akito proposes a collaboration: he will handle storytelling while Moritaka provides the artwork. Initially reluctant, Moritaka is persuaded when he realizes that producing a hit series might open the door for Miho Azuki, the girl he admires, to participate in its animated version as a voice performer. Together they adopt the joint pen name Muto Ashirogi and set out to craft manga, driven by the ambition to rise to the top of Japan's comic scene while navigating creative challenges and personal motivations.
