Synopsis

In a technologically advanced Japanese metropolis devoted to scientific progress, most residents are students cultivating psychic powers known as esper abilities. Touma Kamijou is an ordinary high schooler whose esper rating is zero, yet he possesses an inexplicable ability called Imagine Breaker that can cancel supernatural phenomena. His everyday life remains largely unchanged until he encounters Index, a peculiar girl who has mentally retained the contents of banned magical tomes. Her presence draws hostile attention from groups intent on capturing or harming her. As magicians and other supernatural forces converge, Touma chooses to shield Index, drawing him into a hidden conflict between science and magic and exposing him to a wider, perilous supernatural world.
