Synopsis

Portals to another realm have opened on Earth, releasing hostile entities called Neighbors that resist conventional arms. To counter them, the Border Defense Agency forms and fields specialized armaments known as Triggers. Years after the initial breach, Neighbors remain a persistent danger, and Border operatives keep watch to protect humanity. Cadets like Osamu Mikumo are restricted from employing Triggers outside official facilities. When school bullies drag a new transfer student into a forbidden zone and Neighbors attack, Osamu breaks protocol to act. The transfer student, Yuuma Kuga, swiftly neutralizes the attackers, revealing himself to be a humanoid Neighbor concealing his true identity.
