Synopsis

Ordered by his father to eliminate Takeru Kawakami, leader of Kumaso, the youngest Yamato prince Oguna ventures into hostile lands but is struck by an arrow fired by Kajika, a local huntress. Seeking to atone for her error, she brings the wounded prince to her settlement to tend his injury. As a close bond and romantic attachment develop between them, Oguna discovers that Kajika is the sister of his intended target. Torn between allegiance to his family and his feelings, he consults the Phoenix, an immortal guardian of Kumaso, as he struggles to decide whether to follow his commission or spare the man connected to the woman he loves. Based on the Yamato Takeru legend, Hi no Tori: Yamato-hen follows a tragic pair whose relationship tests loyalties and illustrates the tension between love and duty amid uncertainty.
