Synopsis
November 1998: a newly built Ogawa apartment complex in Mifune City is the scene of a double murder. The suspect, Tomoe Enjou, flees in panic and, bafflingly, finds no police pursuit and no media coverage. After Shiki Ryougi intervenes to protect Tomoe from attackers, she permits him to hide at her place. Days later Tomoe faces a disturbing paradox: someone he believed he had killed—his mother—appears to be alive. Concurrently, Mikiya Kokutou pursues a lead related to the Ogawa murders that comes to his colleague Touko Aozaki. As Mikiya digs deeper, he focuses on Tomoe and gradually uncovers unsettling realities tied to the ominous apartment complex. This fifth entry in the Kara no Kyoukai series weaves a layered mystery together with the series' recurring characters and dark thematic concerns, yielding a contemplative and tense narrative.
