Synopsis

In 19th-century Paris, a vampire named Vanitas, born under a rare blue moon, became an outcast and was driven into despair; legend links him to a maledicted grimoire called the Book of Vanitas and foretells vengeance against vampires of the crimson moon. Noé Archiviste, a vampire researcher, seeks that legendary book and during an airship journey is rescued from an assault by an eccentric doctor who identifies himself as Vanitas and possesses the very volume Noé pursues. The doctor, however, is an ordinary human who inherited both the name and the grimalkin from his teacher—the same Vanitas of lore. When the strange phenomenon known as the Charlatan's Parade emerges, the doctor's peculiar method of restoring afflicted vampires by retrieving their true names becomes a critical resource. The story follows their uneasy alliance as they investigate and attempt to heal vampires corrupted by the curse, unfolding amid atmospheric, period-era settings and a sense of melancholic mystery.
