Synopsis

A special edition bonus tells of a man freshly out of prison who heads straight to the source of a tale that changed him. Captivated by a veteran raconteur's version of a story known as “Shinigami,” the newcomer requests to study under him. The storyteller, Yakumo, who has never trained anyone, unexpectedly agrees and gives his new pupil the name Yotaro. As Yotaro settles into his role, he encounters others connected to Yakumo, notably Konatsu, the young woman he raised after her father—a celebrated narrator—died. Konatsu admires her father's art and aspires to perform herself, yet the profession remains effectively closed to women. The narrative follows Yotaro's apprenticeship, the developing relationships within Yakumo's circle, and Konatsu's quiet yearning to pursue the storytelling craft despite societal constraints.
