Yomiko Readman is a gentle, near-sighted book lover who teaches temporarily at a Japanese high school while secretly serving as an operative for the British Library's Special Operations Division. Under the codename "The Paper," she possesses an uncanny ability to shape paper into any form she envisions, crafting tools and weapons from sheets and pages. Partnered with the mysterious agent known as Ms. Deep, Yomiko travels internationally to investigate a disturbing phenomenon: the rebirth of notable historical personalities and their scheme to amass influence. The series follows her missions and the ethical and personal challenges that arise as she uses her unique talent to oppose the powerful organization behind these reincarnations.
