Synopsis

When inspectors Arata Shindou and Mikhail Kei Ignatov expose a covert plot to weaken Japan’s Sybil System, tensions erupt into violence. Bifrost operative Kouichi Azusawa mounts a direct offensive against the Criminal Investigation Department, seizing its headquarters and taking Shindou and others hostage. CID Unit 01’s leader, Chief Mika Shimotsuki, and former members Shinya Kougami and Nobuchika Ginoza are tasked with retaking the building and rescuing those held captive. Azusawa pairs demands for Tokyo governor Karina Komiya’s removal with a larger, hidden scheme unfolding behind the siege. As the standoff progresses, Shindou is forced to confront both Azusawa and buried aspects of his own history, drawing him nearer to the truth that has remained just out of reach for him and his colleague Ignatov for years.
