Three decades after the collapse of the Space Colonization Program, humanity teeters on the brink of extinction beneath a constant, lethal Rain. Scavengers known as Junkers pick through the remnants of civilization for usable goods and relics. One Junker slips into the most hazardous ruin, a place called Sarcophagus City, where he uncovers a pre-war planetarium at the city's heart. Inside the decayed dome he meets Hoshino Yumemi, a companion robot that greets him as if she has just received her first visitor in thirty years. She immediately attempts to present the stars, only to find the planetarium's projector in disrepair. Struggling to interpret her persistent, earnest dialogue, the Junker consents to help restore the broken apparatus, setting the two on a quiet, uncertain path against a bleak, rain-soaked world.
