Synopsis

At the scheduled shutdown of the acclaimed virtual reality game Yggdrasil, Momonga — a formidable spellcaster and leader of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown — chooses to remain logged in until the final moments. When the clock passes midnight, he unexpectedly retains full consciousness in his in-game form, and the game’s NPCs begin exhibiting individual personalities. Facing an unprecedented reality, Momonga directs his devoted followers to explore this altered world and attempt to assert control, seeking the cause of these changes and whether other players share his fate.
