Synopsis

Takashi Natsume and his spirit companion Madara, commonly called Nyanko, continue the task of releasing spirits bound by the Book of Friends that belonged to his deceased grandmother, Reiko Natsume. One afternoon after school, Takashi meets a stealthy spirit named Monmonbou, which responds to Reiko’s name and awakens memories linked to her. Driven by curiosity, Takashi visits the enigmatic town where Reiko once lived. There he connects with Yorie Tsumura and her son Mukuo, acquaintances from his grandmother’s past, and through these interactions learns more about Reiko’s history. Meanwhile, Nyanko stops for food and finds a strange "Spirit Seed" that quickly grows into a fruit tree overnight. Nyanko eats one of the fruits, causing him to split into three separate forms. To resolve Nyanko’s condition, Takashi and his allies step in, and their efforts reveal additional hidden aspects of the town. The narrative maintains a reflective, gentle tone as it explores memories, spirit encounters, and the discoveries that emerge while restoring names from the Book of Friends.
