Synopsis

Hachiman Hikigaya is a disengaged high school student whose outlook is shaped by cynicism and a belief that youthful happiness is largely illusory. After writing a critical essay about contemporary social bonds, his teacher compels him to join the Volunteer Service Club as a disciplinary measure. The club’s purpose is to assist any student who requests help in pursuing their objectives. Its sole other member is Yukino Yukinoshita, a striking and reserved classmate known for her aloof demeanor. Reluctantly thrust into addressing the needs and conflicts of fellow students, Hachiman must apply his skeptical perspective and keen observation to resolve various social dilemmas. The experience forces him to confront whether his pessimistic interpretation of people and society obstructs meaningful connection or can be leveraged to navigate and solve interpersonal issues.
