Synopsis

In the era labeled After Colony 195, the United Earth Sphere Alliance has dominated Earth and its space colonies through force for decades. Following the colonies' declaration of opposition and the assassination of their leader, colonial insurgents initiate "Operation Meteor," dispatching five advanced mobile suits to Earth as an act of retribution. These machines, constructed from an almost unbreakable material known as Gundanium Alloy and called Gundams, commence attacks against the Alliance and its affiliated organization OZ. During an aerial engagement with OZ's elite pilot Zechs Marquise, one Gundam piloted by a man who has adopted the name of the slain colonial leader, Heero Yuy, is driven into the atmosphere and makes a forced splashdown in the sea. Heero is discovered ashore by Relena Peacecraft, the daughter of a politician devoted to peace, who witnesses his arrival. Though they do not yet understand its significance, this meeting will deeply affect their lives and influence events both on Earth and within the space colonies.
