Synopsis

In After Colony 196, a year after a galaxy-spanning civil conflict has ended, Earth and its colonies exist in uneasy calm. Believing the Gundam units to be obsolete, veteran pilots Duo Maxwell, Heero Yuy, Trowa Barton, and Quatre Raberba Winner elect to dispose of their machines by sending them into the sun. Their plan is interrupted when Mariemaia Khushrenada, the sole offspring of the late authoritarian noble Treize, upends the fragile peace by abducting diplomat Relena Peacecraft and declaring an initiative called Operation Meteor aimed at realizing her father's ambition for global control. Forced back into action, the pilots — aided by former foe Zechs Marquise and his Tallgeese mobile suit — must retrieve their Gundams and confront the Khushrenada regime. Among their obstacles is Wufei Chang, once an ally, who has aligned himself with Mariemaia's cause. The story follows this renewed struggle as the heroes face political upheaval, personal loyalties, and one final decisive confrontation without revealing later plot developments.
