Synopsis

Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama, an eighth-grade student, possesses extraordinary psychic abilities he discovered early in life. Fearing the consequences of his strength, he deliberately keeps his powers in check and uses them sparingly, largely to win the attention of his childhood crush, Tsubomi, whose interest wanes as his displays become predictable. To learn discipline over his talents, Mob becomes an assistant to Arataka Reigen, a fraudulent psychic who capitalizes on Mob’s genuine skills for small payments. Mob’s routine now involves performing exorcisms and handling supernatural incidents for others, a repetitive duty that belies the magnitude of his potential. Beneath this daily monotony lies a vast reservoir of psychic energy tied to his emotional state; if Mob’s suppressed feelings surge beyond his control, it could provoke a drastic, uncontrollable transformation with severe consequences. As tension mounts and his emotional threshold approaches breaking point, efforts to prevent whatever might follow grow increasingly futile.
