Synopsis

Nanami Momozono, while at her shrine in winter, sees her fox familiar Tomoe suddenly weaken as dark sigils spread across his body. Lord Mikage, Tomoe’s absent former master, returns and encloses Tomoe within a magical pocket mirror to delay the progression of his ailment. Mikage reveals that before he and Tomoe met, the fox youkai had loved a human and sought to become human himself by striking a bargain with a fallen god; the pact resulted only in a curse and death. To spare Tomoe’s suffering, the god erased his memories of that human. Lately the curse has reawakened because Tomoe has developed feelings for his current human master, Nanami. With no way to halt the curse in the present, Nanami resolves to travel back centuries to prevent Tomoe’s fate, even if doing so might erase their meeting. Her journey into the past leads her to the realization that her bond with Tomoe runs far deeper than she had understood.
