After the Inter-High tournament, Karasuno High’s volleyball squad travels to Tokyo for an intensive training camp hosted by Nekoma High. The team endures a series of defeats against other participating schools, leaving players stalled and uncertain how to improve. Each member confronts the need to change ingrained habits to advance their abilities. The pairing of setter Tobio Kageyama and ace/wing spiker Shouyou Hinata experiences the sharpest decline: Hinata’s emerging individual style and impulsive actions create timing problems with Kageyama’s sets and strain their partnership. While both search for solutions to restore their coordination, they receive unexpected guidance from two people outside their immediate circle. The story follows their efforts to assimilate new lessons and questions whether those insights will be sufficient for Karasuno to break free from its slump.
