Synopsis
After aliens known as the Amanto arrive, samurai in feudal Japan are stripped of their swords and social standing, reduced to lives of humiliation while the newcomers terrorize the land. Determined to reclaim samurai dignity, Anti-Foreigner Faction leader Kotarou Katsura chooses violent measures and plans an assault on the Shinsengumi, a corps of skilled samurai charged with maintaining Edo’s peace, using a giant mecha as his means. At the same time, Yorozuya proprietor Gintoki Sakata and his companions intend only to enjoy the cherry blossoms but are confronted by the Shinsengumi, who accuse Gintoki of taking their viewing spot. The encounter escalates into a chaotic dispute that devolves into a harshly contested game of rock-paper-scissors, reflecting the broader tensions between factions and the desperate efforts to restore honor and order.
