Synopsis

After reaching the highest shin'uchi rank, Yotarou still searches for a clear sense of self within rakugo, torn between his teacher's lessons and the distinctive approach of the late Sukeroku. Though his shows draw audiences, his performances lack a defining personal force, and the art itself risks fading from public attention. At the same time, Yakumo—widely seen as one of the last figures keeping rakugo alive—grapples with the vulnerabilities of aging. Despite delivering strong performances, he worries about reaching his physical and artistic limits, especially as an old acquaintance draws near. Konatsu works to raise her child alone, prompting Yotarou to oppose her single parenthood and press for marriage so he can assume a paternal role. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen concludes Yotarou and Yakumo's intertwined journey as they strive to preserve a nearly endangered performance tradition while confronting deep personal conflicts.
