Synopsis

Tomoya Okazaki is a bored high school delinquent who expects nothing from his future. He and his friend Youhei Sunohara cut classes and plan to drift through their school years. One morning Tomoya encounters Nagisa Furukawa, a quiet girl who speaks aloud words she likes to motivate herself. Though he initially brushes off their meeting, Tomoya soon notices Nagisa more and eventually accepts her friendship. He learns she was held back a year because of a serious illness and that she wants to bring back the school's drama club. With little else to do, Tomoya agrees to help her recruit members, joined by four other girls. Spending time with them, he discovers the personal struggles each of them faces and, by helping them, comes to see his own life in a different light.
