Tomoya Okazaki drifts through high school with a bitter outlook, shaped by a painful childhood and a father who turned to alcohol and emotional neglect. His life begins to shift when Nagisa Furukawa, a quietly unusual classmate, extends a friendly gesture he initially rebuffs. Repeated encounters draw them together, and Tomoya gradually lowers his defenses and accepts her companionship. Learning that Nagisa wishes to bring back the school's Drama Club, Tomoya chooses to reengage with everyday joys and commit to supporting her goal. Their relationship, born of simple camaraderie, slowly deepens as they confront a range of personal struggles and hardships, coming to terms with the difficulties life presents while changing each other in meaningful ways.
