Synopsis

Guts is a wandering mercenary famed for wielding an enormous sword. He takes the highest-paying jobs and rarely remains with any group until a clash with the Band of the Falcon changes his path. After ambushing the band following a job, Guts proves dominant in combat until Griffith, the group's founder and captain, defeats him decisively. Left incapacitated and brought to the Band of the Falcon's camp, Guts recovers after two days. He challenges Griffith again under a wager: if Guts loses, he will join the band. Hobbled by recent injuries, Guts is beaten and becomes part of the group. Over the next three years, he rises to command within the Band of the Falcon, his battlefield skill second only to Griffith's, repeatedly confronting and dispatching large enemy forces alone. Their combined strengths make the band a dominant force in warfare, even as an ominous threat gathers in the background, poised to alter Guts' fate.
