Long ago, giant humanoid beings drove humanity to the brink, forcing the remaining people to retreat into massive concentric fortifications. These creatures attack humans seemingly for pleasure rather than necessity, prompting survivors to live within sealed walls and avoid encounters for a century. That precarious peace ends when an enormous entity breaks through the outer barrier, plunging the populace back into mortal danger. After experiencing a devastating personal loss during the assault, Eren Yeager vows to eliminate the threat and enlists in the Survey Corps, a military force that confronts the beasts beyond the walls.
