A set of three short episodes focused on members of the Scout Regiment and the 104th Training Corps. In the first segment, Hange Zoë disregards orders to try to secure a live titan for study; her single-minded pursuit leads her into the woods where an encounter guides her to the remains of former scout Ilse Langnar and a diary that documents Ilse’s final moments, offering crucial insight for titan research. The second story follows Jean Kirstein, who aspires to the Military Police to escape a stifling home life; during training he grows frustrated by rivalry and mockery, ultimately issuing a challenge to fellow cadet Sasha Blouse to settle who is stronger. The third piece depicts a routine mounted patrol through the forest assigned to the 104th Training Corps: while intended as a low-threat exercise, boredom and division within Marco Bott’s group leave some cadets lax, and when danger arrives they find themselves ill-prepared.
