Synopsis
Sakamichi Onoda, an upbeat otaku hoping to join his new school's anime club and make friends, finds the club has been dissolved. Determined to rebuild it, he seeks classmates willing to participate. With little success, he continues his habitual weekly 90-kilometer round trips to Akihabara on his old, heavy city bicycle — a routine he began in fourth grade. During one climb, he encounters Shunsuke Imaizumi, a focused first-year who trains on the school's steep incline. Impressed that Onoda can ascend the hill on that style of bike, Imaizumi issues a challenge: win a race and the prize is membership in the anime club. The confrontation marks the start of Onoda's unexpected entry into high school bicycle racing, as he navigates friendship, perseverance, and the demands of competitive cycling.
