Synopsis

Yukiteru Amano, an introverted middle schooler who keeps a digital diary of his daily routine, begins to find entries on his phone that foretell events before they happen. Initially treating the phenomenon as coincidence, he gradually accepts that the predictions manifest in the near future. He discovers that classmate Yuno Gasai also owns a comparable diary. The pair confront a strange pursuer and return home only to learn from the godlike figure Deus Ex Machina—and his attendant Mur Mur—that they are among a group of contestants drawn into a survival competition. Each participant’s device, termed a Future Diary, records forthcoming occurrences that can be used strategically; the last survivor will inherit the deity’s position. With escape impossible, Yukiteru and Yuno must rely on their Future Diaries to navigate the lethal, high-stakes battle for succession.
