Synopsis

Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old Japanese girl who has experienced abandonment and social ostracism, is sold at an auction to a tall, masked man. Hoping only for a place to belong, she accepts her fate. While being transported, she overhears robed onlookers remark that her buyer has obtained a rare Sleigh Beggy. Unfazed by their comments, the masked stranger brings her into a study and reveals himself as Elias Ainsworth, a practitioner of magic. After a tense moment and a display of teleportation, they arrive at Elias’s scenic cottage in the English countryside. There, Chise encounters fairies and various strange, wondrous creatures, and her life begins anew as Elias’s apprentice and presumed bride.
