Synopsis

Rintarou Okabe, once an eccentric self-styled mad scientist, now lives withdrawn and burdened by guilt after failing to save Makise Kurisu. Abandoning his former persona, he tries to pass as an ordinary university student while keeping his traumatic past hidden from friends. While working at a campus technology forum, he encounters Maho Hiyajo, a spirited researcher, and Professor Alexis Leskinen. They introduce Amadeus, an advanced artificial intelligence that preserves a person’s memories to recreate their behavior and mannerisms. Okabe soon learns that Maho and Alexis were Kurisu’s former colleagues and that Kurisu’s consciousness has been simulated within Amadeus. Hired to study the simulation’s responses, Okabe is given the opportunity to interact with a facsimile of someone he loved and lost. As he engages with the recreated Kurisu, he is pulled back toward painful memories and must navigate the ethical and temporal dangers of disturbing the past and altering the course of events.
