Synopsis

These early tales explore how Lina Inverse and Naga the Serpent first crossed paths and the initial shape of their rivalry. Their opening outing has the pair encountering a vampire while carrying out a rescue. Later, Lina takes a well-paid assignment as the guardian of Sirene, a wealthy man's daughter; although pleased by the compensation, Lina discovers Sirene squanders the first half of her wages. To teach Sirene a lesson, Lina fabricates a kidnapping, but when an actual abduction occurs she must join forces with Naga to recover the girl. The set concludes with Lina and Naga opposing one another in a contest centered on fashion, placing them on different sides of a social conflict that underscores their competitive dynamic.
