Synopsis

Most people find civil servants exasperating and inadequate, yet three recent hires will learn the realities of public office firsthand. Lucy Yamagami joins with a personal grievance tied to the absurd length of her registered name and seeks some measure of vindication. Yutaka Hasebe arrives as a relaxed presence who habitually looks for chances to shirk responsibilities. Saya Miyoshi is an anxious newcomer confronting the uncertainty of her first job. Their supervisor, Taishi Ichimiya, has been on the job for eight years but lacks effective training skills. Faced with an ineffectual senior and frequent, discouraging interactions with clients, the group’s confidence in their career choice wavers. Despite setbacks and mounting doubts, the three support one another as they adapt to the modest, often disappointing realities of working for the government.
